Andy Roddick took his first step towards capturing is second career Grand Slam singles title late Monday night, knocking off Bjorn Phau in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 at the U.S. Open in New York. Roddick neutralized the speedy Phau with a dominant serve, putting 81 percent of his first offerings in play and winning 80 percent of those serves. Roddick hammered 13 aces in the match while commiting just one double fault. Roddick has one Grand Slam singles title, the 2003 U.S. Open, while he has reached three Wimbledon finals and the U.S. Open finals in 2006, all four finals losses came at the hands of Roger Federer.
